COMMUNITY TOURISM "ĐÁ BIA"

Peaceful wilderness of the Muong Au Ta people

Da Bia Village is 35km from Da Bac town, about 100km from Hanoi. This is an ideal place for tourists who want to spend their weekend relaxing, resting, exploring and experiencing the life of the highlanders in general and the Muong Au Ta people in particular. This place still retains its natural beauty, which is a special attraction for tourists who love to explore. Coming here, we can feel the peace and quiet, breathe in the fresh, cool air of the primeval mountains and forests, watch the white clouds floating on the mountain tops, and join in the chirping of all kinds of birds and animals that echo throughout the land and sky… making people feel peaceful, forgetting the fatigue, worries, and stress of the hustle and bustle of life in the city. Da Bia is a village of the Muong Au Ta ethnic group settled along Hoa Binh Lake.

The hamlet has 40 households with over 200 people of the Muong ethnic group living there. This is a famous community tourism destination in Hoa Binh province, with ancient stilt houses as Homestays attracting tourists to rest, explore and experience the life of the highland people in general and the Muong Ao Ta ethnic group in particular.

The Da Bia hamlet (now Duc Phong hamlet) was previously isolated on a rocky mountain, with no roads to go to other villages. To get out of the hamlet, you had to go by boat on the lake. Therefore, Da Bia still retains its rustic, wild, dust-free and noise-free features.

The peaceful beauty of Da Bia.

Since June 2014, with the support of the AOP organization in Vietnam on the orientation of community tourism development, some households who boldly participated in tourism have received loans from the project, renovated their houses and trained in cooking skills, welcoming and serving tourists. Thanks to the advantage of being close to the lake and still preserving its cultural identity and natural landscape, Da Bia is increasingly attractive to tourists from all over the world. Da Bia Hamlet was recognized with the ASEAN Community Tourism Award in 2019 and was recognized as a 4-star OCOP product at the provincial level in 2020. Coming to Da Bia, visitors can rest in traditional stilt houses, enjoy cuisine with rustic dishes of the Muong people such as fish, bamboo rice, hill chicken, wild vegetables…

In particular, visitors will experience activities such as: Swimming, kayaking, rafting, bathing in streams, taking a boat to see the lake, climbing mountains, cycling, walking to explore the village, joining the locals in pulling nets, pouring shrimp baskets, shopping at “Tuc hang” – a place to exchange products of the villagers and tourists. When night falls, visitors can immerse themselves in the night of entertainment, light a campfire, enjoy the specialty wine of the Muong people, get drunk on the sounds of the panpipes, flutes and the charming dances of the charming Muong boys and girls.

At Da Bia, the best atmosphere is in the evening and early morning. Sitting on bamboo chairs right next to the stilt house, feel the fresh, cool air. In the morning, people can wake up early to walk around the village, see the misty clouds covering the mountains, watch the locals fishing, and enjoy the fresh air of the lake. At night, in Da Bia village with few lights, visitors can leisurely watch the stars or join in the singing and dancing of the locals. All create a peaceful, relaxing time, recharging visitors’ energy after the daily fatigue and busyness.

Visitors will have many unforgettable memories when coming and exploring this beautiful Muong village.
